Heartbreaker: How To Renovate A Playboy by Lizabeth Scott is book one in her Billionaires of White Oaks series. Though part of a series, this novel reads as a standalone, as will all novels in the series.
April White is a interior designer looking to complete renovations on a home that has historical significance for her family. Belinda Holt, sister of Elias Holt has just encouraged April to plan her wedding and have the festivities at White’s Manor.
Elias Holt is the host of Facelift Reno, a popular TV show featuring home renovations. He thinks April is exploiting his sister in an attempt to use his fame to promote her business.
Elias and April are both conflicted by their personal relationship and familial connections but are unable to resist the fiery physical attraction that has overtaken them. How do you make sense of a relationship that seems senseless?
The story is told through the alternating viewpoints of Elias and April, which the author handles nicely with appropriate chapter headers. The use of historical sites as scenery is well thought out. The characters are fully-developed and the plot is engaging. Though some elements could have been executed further I still fully enjoyed Heartbreaker and rate it 4 out of 5 stars. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys romance with a lot of heat.
My thanks to the author and Glenfinnan Publishing for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.
